International

International links at Simon Balle are well embedded into our curriculum as well as extra curricular activities.  We were awarded the International Schools Award for the second time in 2011 which is a recognition of the international work we do.

The map below shows our formal links.  We also ensure that students have an understanding of the world around them with a variety of curriculum activities.   For examples Year 10’s take part in a Citizenship day around the issues of Sweatshops called Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts and in music they study a range of music from around the world.

Kimbili Junior Secondary School – We have been linked with Kimbili since August 2004 when Miss Baynham spent the summer working with the teachers to improve the quality of teaching and learning at this rural school.

The school has made many improvements since that first visit and we have developed strong links with the teachers.  We have made three more visits to Kimbili and their teachers have visited us twice.  We have taken part in curriculum projects and exchanged ideas.  Hertingfordbury Cowper are also part of this link.

Kimbili now have access to the internet so we are able to communicate by Skype.  Hopefully we will be able to get more skype conversations going soon.
