It is important to recognise that at Simon Balle we are fulfilling our aim to be one of the leading schools in technology. We want to be at the forefront of technological developments but at the same time it is important for us to ensure that e-safety and safeguarding are taking a primary role; therefore it is clear that our office is no longer only here to offer technical support. We want to help educate and improve, which will in turn instil a strong technology presence across all departments.
As a result of this I would like to introduce you to the Educational Technology Department. We want people to feel that we are not only here to solve technology issues but also to help students and staff within Simon Balle to develop their skills around technology so that they are in a better environment to educate and learn.
Following the school’s vision closely, we felt it was important to have a clear mission statement for the office:
“To empower our students & staff with the ability to interact with all types of technology so they are able to explore and learn within & beyond the classroom”
We have also restructured the team so that more specific roles can be recognised:
The Educational Technology Department wants to help everyone within the school wherever they can. Students can come to us to discuss any help they may need and through that help we can make using technology both easy and exciting. Our door is always open.
