The Examinations Office administers over 6000 public examination entries throughout the year for Years 10,11,12 and 13. The major exam session is in May/June. We currently use four examination boards for more than 20 different subject areas. All examinations run at the school adhere to the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) rules and they publish notices for the candidates to read. It is important that all candidates and parents are familiar with the regulations.

The Exams Guidance Booklet is a handy reference guide for parents and students covering all aspects of public examinations including a FAQ section. All students get a copy of the booklet as they start their GCSE course.
All the school exam timetables will be published on the website as soon as available and all students receive a copy of their individual timetables as soon as all entries are complete.
For the summer 2019 exam series, a “contingency” exam day has been arranged by the examination awarding bodies.
The date has been set aside as the contingency day is Wednesday 26th June 2019.
The inclusion from this contingency day means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam up until, and including, Wednesday 26th June 2019.
This decision is not a school decision and applies to all students in all schools nationally that run external exams. The decision comes following the tragic events of summer 2017, namely Manchester attack and the Grenfell Tower fire. The Joint Council for Qualifications have decided that they need the option to postpone an exam across the country in the event of an incident and then rearrange for later date, to allow all students a fair and equal chance.
Holidays or other commitments for Yr 11, 12 & 13 pupils should therefore not be booked until after Wednesday 26th June 2019.
We hope this advanced notice helps you with your planning for next summer.
