Examinations

April 15, 2013 in by Clare Booth

The Examinations Department administers over 6000 public examination entries throughout the year for Years 10,11,12 and 13. The major exam sessions take place in January and May/June with some modular exams in November and March. We currently use four examination boards for more than 20 different subject areas. All examinations run at the school adhere to the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) rules and they publish notices for the candidates to read. It is important that all candidates and parents are familiar with the regulations.

The department is staffed by:-
Clare Booth – Examinations Officer  (boothc@simonballe.herts.sch.uk)
Linette Wain – Examinations Assistant  (wainl@simonballe.herts.sch.uk)

and a panel of trained invigilators (approx 25) who are responsible for the everyday running of the exams and looking after the needs of the students during the exam sessions.

The Exams Guidance Booklet is a handy reference guide for parents and students covering all aspects of public examinations including a FAQ section. All students get a copy of the booklet as they start their GCSE course.

All the school exam timetables will be published on the website as soon as available and all students receive a copy of their individual timetables as soon as all entries are complete.
