Our Winter Words Book Festival has just ended after 7 days of inspiring talks from a range of visiting authors who have enthused our students from Reception up to Year 10. Alice Hemming, our first Patron of Reading opened the Festival, visiting all Reception and Year 1 classes and talking at an Assembly for the whole of Primary. Dave Cousins visited us and gave a humorous talk to Year 7's and had the year group very engaged with his event. Tamsyn Murray spoke to Years 2, 3 and 8 about a wide range of her novels whilst Matt Dickinson, popular writer and Everest Summiteer finished off the Festival by enthusing Years 3, 9 and 10.

Other highlights of Winter Words: our Writing Challenge Awards Evening with the Mayor and Alice Hemming as our VIP guests. Pianists entertained the audience before the prizes were presented. Year 2 and 3 students also entered the competition this year for the first time. All Primary students and our team of loyal, hard working Student Librarians visited the purple double decker bus from Browns book suppliers on Monday and chose new books for our 2 libraries. Massive thanks to our parents who supported our annual Book Fair and have ensured that many free books as commission will go onto our library shelves. The grand total taken will be revealed shortly. Happy Reading everyone!
