Welcome to Simon Balle Sixth Form

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Simon Balle Sixth Form.

We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form and the community we have created. With over 290 students, it is a vibrant and ambitious place to learn, where academic success sits alongside personal growth, leadership, service and the opportunity to discover what you are capable of.

Our students are an important part of our all-through school community. They are not simply preparing for life beyond Simon Balle; they actively shape the experience of those around them. As mentors, House leaders, musicians, sports leaders and role models, our Sixth Form students make a real difference to school life and the wider community.

This reflects our wider school ethos of Creating Tomorrow’s Citizens Today. We want our students to leave Simon Balle with more than excellent qualifications. We want them to have the confidence, character, compassion and skills to make a positive contribution to the communities they are part of and to the world around them.

We believe that Sixth Form should be about much more than achieving great qualifications. Alongside their studies, every Year 12 student takes part in our weekly enrichment programme, with opportunities ranging from mentoring younger students and our Advanced Musician’s Programme to the Extended Project Qualification, fitness and wellbeing at Hartham Leisure Centre, and a wide range of other activities. These experiences help students develop the confidence, independence, leadership and wider skills they need to thrive.

Most importantly, we know that every student is different. Whether joining us from Simon Balle or from another school, each student receives individual guidance and support to help them find the right academic and personal pathway. Through academic and pastoral mentoring, careers guidance and support with their next steps, we help our students prepare with confidence for university, degree apprenticeships, employment and life beyond Sixth Form.
