The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has issued updated guidance in April 2025 about how students can and cannot use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assessed work, such as GCSEs, A-levels, and other qualifications.

It is important for students and families to understand that:

  • AI-generated content must not be submitted as the student’s own work. This includes work produced entirely or in part by tools like ChatGPT.
  • Students must clearly acknowledge any use of AI, even if it was just used for research or idea generation.
  • Failure to do so may count as malpractice, which can lead to disqualification from exams or loss of marks.

We strongly encourage all students to read the guidance and speak to their teacher before using AI for any assessed task.
