Building a stronger community together

Strong schools, supportive homes: together we care, together they thrive.

Why we have a PSA:

The Parent School Association (PSA) plays a vital role in fostering collaboration between families and the school community at large, ensuring a supportive and enriching relationship for the benefit of all students. Our parents are keen to get involved in supporting the school at all levels, both academically and socially, as they understand that to create “Tomorrow’s citizens today,” young people must excel in learning while developing strong moral character. Guided by the motto “Strong schools, supportive homes: together we care, together they thrive,” the PSA strengthens the school community by organising events, fundraising for essential resources, and promoting engagement. Through teamwork and dedication, this partnership is a key lever in ensuring every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Who Are the PSA

Our Parent/Staff Association (PSA) is all through; indeed several members have children who attend both primary and secondary phases.

The aim of the PSA is to offer support to the school with school organised events and an integral part of our school in terms of fundraising for wider projects, which benefit the children within the whole Simon Balle community.

How they support:

We are privileged to have such a strong PSA community that are proactive in their approach to supporting our school community. Members dedicate a great deal of their time and effort to organise and run specific fund raising events that include the successful summer and winter fetes, Quiz nights and School Disco’s to name a few.

The PSA supports the school with its own events by running a refreshment bar, raffles, pre-loved uniform or simply offering manpower at such events as school plays, concerts, sports days, the annual carol service and parents evenings.

Impact:

On average, the PSA raises around  £20,000 a year, through its various activities. In the past the school has greatly benefitted from these funds which have helped to enhance the refurbishment of the popular swimming pool, has helped to pay for playground equipment in the primary playground, and sponsored a minibus costs each year.

Recently, the PSA has supported the Art department in purchasing a new kiln, the Drama department with new lighting for its studio and provided much needed cover / shelter in the Primary playground. Every year the PSA contributes to the Y6, Y11 and Y13 leaving events which are greatly appreciated.
