Welcome from the Director of Music

The past couple of weeks have been a time of celebration. Of excellent exam results (and so many of them) and an amazing Brass concert last night. Our aim is to have high expectations and musical pathways, but to inspire and ensure musicians love their music.

Next half term we have so many performances to look forward to celebrating our musicians. These take hours of rehearsal and planning, bringing our school and musical community together in quite a unique way.

Simon Balle Music is amazing. Thank you to everyone who is part of it. By working together, amazing musical experiences are created!

Celebrating our Musical Curriculum

KS2 Curriculum

Year 3 have been making their own 4-beat rhythm compositions, using crotchets, quavers and minims. They have also enjoyed watching excerpts from the show ‘Stomp,’ which demonstrates how rhythm can be found in the most unlikely places!

KS4 Curriculum

Year 11 have started the exciting process of recording their ensemble performances. Our rock and pop musicians have been working on a Bryan Adams tune, whilst our wind and brass players have been rehearsing a variety of styles, from trumpet quartets to sax ensembles.

Composition deadlines are fast approaching for Years 11 & 13, with the next step being remastering and polishing their pieces, alongside their important written accounts and logs.

Exam Success

Trinity Exams

64 students took Trinity Music Exams last week, and we are delighted that 90% students achieved a Merit or Distinction. To achieve such a high standard is simply incredible.
Students have worked hard to get to this stage, and it truly paid off - the results speak for themselves! There were also a handful of students who had more than one exam last week, they worked hard to prepare for both! We are so proud of our young musicians!
Congratulations to all exam candidates! You can find all results by clicking on the logos!
