Welcome to Simon Balle Music!
We are so proud of everything we have in Simon Balle Music. As Director of Music, I must welcome you and say "hello!'. We are all here to work together, supporting our musicians - your children and young people. Together we are allĀ Team Music!
Our ethos is all about getting involved. Making music with others. Being inspired by music.
Reading through this information will take about 20 minutes. It is so important that you do this, so you understand how we work and what is expected of everyone in Team Music, including yourselves. None of us like reading instructions, but these are vital.
At the bottom you will see our Instagram feed. Do follow us to keep in the loop about our amazing music across our schools.
I have tried to include everything. Once you have read through, do email us if you have any questions. music@simonballe.herts.sch.uk.
If we get things wrong, or forget something, let us know but don't shout at us! My team is incredible and really works to ensure each musician is supported individually. We do our very, very best at all times! At times you will hear from Miss Morgan, our superb Music Manager. She and I both receive the music@ emails.
Here's to a musical future!

Our musical ethos
Quite possibly the most important link - our ethos and how we work. Who we are.
In music, we are a team. Team Music. That includes everyone at home, us and the musician.
Involve - how we timetable lessons
We use an app called 'Involve' for all our timetabling and lesson notes. It records attendance and ensures we know where students are.Ā Please download the app and use it - don't just rely on emails.Ā In the next week or so you will soon start receiving the register emails and details about lessons starting.
Our music lessons - all about how they work
Our instrumental and vocal programme enables students to learn an instrument or to sing. For full details of this programme, prices and Ts&Cs, please click in the box below. This page should answer most questions.
Our musical website
Here is our website - with all links to backing tracks, information and celebration.
Practice makes perfect.
It is essential that practice is completed in between lessons. Otherwise, students make little progress!
Please have a read through this page for the best practice and guidance. A music stand at home is essential (unless your piano has one!). Primary familiesĀ have to lead practice at home, 3 times per week.
Teaching weeks and dates
Here are the dates of teaching weeks for our music lessons.
Simon Balle ensembles and rehearsals have been added. Millmead information is coming as more is added.
Holly is everything Team Music is - hard working, committed, a team player and someone who is just amazing. A clarinet and saxophone player, she has just achieved Grade 7 clarinet with a superb result. Well done Holly - it is fabulous to have you as part of our team - Team Music!
