Every piano or keyboard player is either in this team. You might be working on more ‘classical’ music, or developing your skills as part of our Popular Music work.

Performance is at the heart of this team. Every musician in this team is a performer and we aim to inspire you and give you invaluable experience.

Throughout your learning as part of this school you will receive

• Weekly one to one tuition
• Internal and external recitals
• Masterclasses
• Guidance on being an accompanist, if suitable
• Joining a suitable ensemble when ready

Being a pianist is an art, a skill, a passion. Musicians achieve through practice and listening, both to themselves and others. All pianists and keyboard players will complete an exam or performance as a marker of achievement each year.

Every musician in the School of Piano Studies should feel part of this school and the wider department. Just because they are mainly not in an ensemble does not mean they are not as important as musicians to our school.

Performance opportunities include:

• Larch recitals and assemblies
• Piano recitals in our secondary phase
• Duet and ensemble piano and keyboard opportunities
• Rock School
• Our new Function Band as a ‘session musician’, by audition
• Big Band 2 and Big Band, by audition.
• Music Monday piano performances in the secondary library
